Draper 1917-1922 It is available at the New Hampshire Historical Society. S.F. 45684 for New Hampshire Service May 13, 1818, Eben Colby, of Salisbury, New Hampshire, aged 74 years, deposed: that he enlisted in May, 1777, for 1 year, and served until March, 1778, when he hired Thomas Fuller as a substitute to complete his term, in Capt. Amos Emerson's company, Col. Joseph Cilley, and at the expiration of the year he received a regular discharge, dated Ticonderoga, 1778. Eben Colby As his name was not found on the roll, his application was at first rejected. February 14, 1820, Amos Emerson, of Candia(?), certified that Eben Colby, formerly of Sandown, New Hampshire, and now of Salisbury, New Hampshire, enlisted under him in May, 1777, and served faithfully until the following March, when he produced a substitute; that Colby was wounded in the battle of Bemis Heights, October 7, 1777. Amos Emerson, Capt. September 12, 1818, John Townsend, Jabez Smith and William (?), Selectmen of Salisbury, certified to soldiers financial condition. Claim allowed, and Certificate 17304, New Hampshire Agency, was issued June 1, 1820, Act of March 16, 1818. February 13, 1821, Eben Colby, of Salisbury, New Hampshire, aged 76 years, testified that his occupation is that of a laborer and that he has a wife aged 70 years, (no name given) living with him.
