H., where for the last twenty-four years he has been general agent, was born in Somersworth, N. H., March 22, 1858, a son of Stephen and Mary A. (Jellison) Grant. His parents were natives of Maine, where the father was in business as a trader. In addition to his duties connected with his present position, Mr. Grant has taken some active part in local affairs, having served in the council and as alderman from his ward. He is a member of the Masonic Order, hav- ing advanced as far as the Commandery, and also belongs to the Odd Fellows. He married Carrie E. May, a native of Milan, N. H., and they have two children, Editha M. and Marjorie B.
