Weekly Chronicle and Farmers Register Sep 17, 1836 (Winston-Salem, North 
Carolina)
Pain Wingate, Esq. of Stratham, N. H. is believed to be the only
survivor of either House in the first Congress, under our present
Constitution. He was born in May 1739, and was a member of 
the old Continental Congress. He married the sister of Timothy
Pickering in 1764 -- they are both at the age of more than
97 and 94, are able to walk, and appear to enjoy life.
