Drake, Publisher, ©1847- Vols - 1 - 50 - (Publication Jan 1848 pgs 108-110) The names appear exactly as the copy indicates an extra category or RELATION TO/OF was added to take away special wording of "his wife", "children", etc. Also in Alphabetizing the names there is a lose of 'relation' to the parties they traveled with. ***************************************************************************** PASSENGERS FOR NEW ENGLAND 1638 [The following list of early emigrants or passengers was obtained for the New England Historic Genealogical society, by Henry Stevens, Esq., one of its members, lately resident in London.] "The list of the names of the Passengers intended for New-England in the good shipp, the Confidence of London, of 200 tonnes, John Jobson Mr.___ and thus by vertue of Lord Treasurers warrant of the 11th of April, 1638." Hen: Champante, Cust: N. Dingley, Comptr. The number of the passengers afore mentioned, greate & little, are 110 soules. (S.P.O. Am: & West Indies. v. 375) (New England) ____________________________________________________________________________ Transcription notes ** Ann was given no last name on my copy just a parentheses that says "his children under 12 years of age" of which Ann is listed. *These 4 children traveled with Sarah Osgood but doesn't say their name was "Osgood" just listed as "Sarah Osgood and 4 children". ***there were "110 soules according to the passenger list... yet when finished transcribing names there appeared only 102 on my chart (all names accounted for)this left 8 names possibly crew or unlisted people ... so the "Unknown" names were not on the original listing. When the servants were listed as "his servant" they were given a name to be associated with i.e., "Servant of the Guy's". When they were listed as just "servants" they were not associated. Alphabetizing makes for faster identification however the sacrifice is you loose exact order of people. Therefore you should consult the original source for this order.
