Casavant HAMPTON - Alfred J. "Pete" Casavant, 82, of 23 Thayer Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, in Catholic Medical Center, Manchester. He was born Oct. 17, 1918, in Eliot, Maine, the son of the late Alfred and Marie Louise (Tondreault) Casavant. He resided in Manchester before moving to Hampton in 1967. He was a 1936 graduate of Berwick Academy. Mr. Casavant was a district supervisor for northern New England with the Campbell Soup Co., and retiring in 1981 with 39 years of service. He began his career with the Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A&P Food Stores) and worked as the store manager in South Berwick, Maine, Exeter, Newmarket and Hampton. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish where he served as an usher and was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Society and a member and past president of the Holy Name Society, often serving as an acolyte for funerals or as a coordinator for church functions. He often drove patients to medical appointments. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Portland Sea Dogs fan. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea M. (Underhill) Casavant, with whom he would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on Dec. 5; one son and his wife, Steven and Mary Jane Casavant of Hooksett; one daughter and her husband, Shelley and Robert Regan of Hampton Falls; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Roland Casavant of New York, N.Y.; one sister, Marie E. Tetreault of New Bedford, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Leo Casavant; and one sister, Lorraine Parent. Calling hours will be held Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.
