Cross NEWFIELDS - Adrian "Abe" J. Cross, 55, of Main Street, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, in Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born Nov. 23, 1944, in England, the son of the late William Cross and Michelle (Peach) Cross Arthur, and was a lifelong resident of Newfields. He was a 1963 graduate of Exeter High School. Mr. Cross owned and operated Newfields Country Store. He had previously been a truck driver for Rila Pre Cast for 20 years. He was a volunteer fireman in Newfields, a member of the Rockingham Country Club and drove the No. 9 car at Star Speedway in the 1970s. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cecile (Petit) Cross of Newfields; three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Steven French of Epping, Donna and Dennis Mitchell of Nottingham and Bobbi and Andrew Hayden of North Hampton; three granddaughters; one brother, John K. Arthur of Rochester; one sister, Yvonne Roberts of Barrington; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday in the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket, with the Rev. Robert Collinge officiating. Burial was in Locust Grove Cemetery, Newfields. Memorial donations may be made to the Newfields Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 300, Newfields, NH 03856.
