Rogers EXETER - Clifton J. Rogers, 81, of 11 Douglass Way, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000 at Exeter Healthcare. He was born May 21, 1919 in Newburyport, Mass., the son of the late Ollis C. and Jennie E. (Jeffery) Rogers. A resident of Exeter since 1951, he was a former resident of Haverhill, Mass. Mr. Rogers was a retired employee of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was a member of The Exeter Congregational Church, Exeter Sportsman Club, National Rifle Association, The Exeter Rifle & Pistol Club, the Amateur Trapshooting Association, and served as a N.H. Hunter Education instructor. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Guyot) Rogers of Exeter; a daughter, Donna Stanchfield of Phillips, Maine; a sister, Mrs. John Thorn of Andover, Mass.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Mr. Rogers was predeceased by a son, David C. Rogers, who died in 1985. Graveside services were held Saturday at Exeter Cemetery. The Rev. Jane Henderson of the Congregational Church officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Exeter Congregational Church, Front Street, Exeter, N.H. 03833 or to Rockingham VNA & Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, N.H. 03833.
