Sherman NORTHWOOD - Helen A. (Holmes) Sherman, 88, of Esther Lane, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at the Hospice House, Concord. She was born in Northwood the daughter of Emery J. and Lola F. (Bartlett) Holmes. Mrs. Sherman owned Sherman Realty in Northwood. She served as tax collector in Northwood for 35 years and was a former president of the Harvey Lake Women's Club. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Northwood, for more than 40 years where she served as treasurer; she was a member of the Crescent Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 45, Northwood, for 60 years. The widow of Herbert A. "Chub" Sherman, who died in 1990, she is survived by two sons, James D. Sherman of Northwood and John A. Sherman and his wife Susan of Plaistow; one daughter, Marjorie Pyle of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Allan G. Holmes of Northwood; and two sisters, Pauline Clark of Concord and Harriet Black of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by one daughter, Marilyn S. Sherman, who died in 1981, and one sister, Frances Wallace. Funeral services were held Monday in the Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry M. Frost officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice House, Hospice Program, Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association, P.O. Box 1797, Concord, NH 03302-1797.
