Brown EXETER - Ralph V. Brown, 78, of Camelot Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at SunBridge Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was born Jan. 31, 1922, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, son of the late George and Edith (Hammon) Brown. He grew up in Watertown, Mass., and graduated from the local high school. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific. Ralph was a resident of Exeter for the past 1½ years; before that he lived in Rye for 25 years and in Cambridge, Mass., for 50 years. He was a lieutenant in the Massachusetts State Police Department, and retired 28 years ago. He was a former member of the Park Street Church in Boston. At the time of his death he was attending the First Baptist Church of Exeter. He was active in the Portsmouth chapter of the Barber Shop Quartet (S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.). He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marion (Harnish) Brown of Exeter; two daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Ron Duffy of Exeter, and Susan and Bruce Howell of Needham, Mass.; one son and his wife, Peter and Pam Brown of Nantucket, Mass.; five grandchildren, Adam, Vanessa, Dynah, Heather and Jen; one sister, Rose Waldman of Dover; one twin sister and her husband, Ruth and George Harris of Dover; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at the First Baptist Church of Exeter. The Rev. Moynihan will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to the First Baptist Church of Exeter, 2 Spring St., Exeter, NH 03833; or the Exeter Congregational Church, 21 Front St., Exeter, NH 03833.
