Born July 4, 1941, in Portsmouth, he was the son of George and Helen (Carkin) Dow. He graduated from Portsmouth High School, Class of 1959, and served in the Coast Guard. He was employed with the Postal Service, retiring in 1996 with 30 years of service. He was a 35-year member of the Portsmouth Lodge of Elks and a past exalted ruler. He was also a member of the Creek AC. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Ramona (Lavigne) Dow; two brothers, Louis L. Dow and his wife, Beverly, of Greenland, and Joe Dow and his wife, Jacqueline, of Portsmouth; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Camille and Patrick Crowley; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, George R. Dow, Lt. Col. Charles W. Dow, Phillip W. Dow, Richard S. Dow and a sister, Joyce M. Kent. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, at St. Catherine of Siena Church. Visiting hours are from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, at the Farrell Funeral home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Family flowers only, please.
