Coes HAMPTON - Samuel H. Coes, 77, of 24 Briar Road, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at his home. He resided in Northboro, Mass., for 38 years moving to Hampton in 1988. He was a graduate of South Kent School in Connecticut and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester. Mr. Coes was a research engineer with the Norton Co. in Worcester for 42 years. He held 12 patents with Norton Co., including one for life-saving, bullet-proof armor. He was a lieutenant commander, U.S. Navy Reserved, retired. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy E. (Smith) Coes of Hampton; four sons, Samuel H. Coes Jr. of Hampton, Jeffrey Coes of Paxton, Mass., Richard A. Coes of Webster, Mass., and Steven H. Coes of Newfields; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Mollenauer of Mechanicsville, Va. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
