Harriman PERKINSVILLE, Vt. - Bernard Wilson Harriman, 82, of Perkinsville, Vt., died at his home on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on June 27, 1918 in Canaan, Vt., the only child of Clarence J. and Blanche (Wilson) Harriman. He was graduated from Canaan High School in 1935 and from the University of Vermont with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1939. He was married to Mary Laramie in Fair Haven, Vt., on Oct. 8, 1944. He joined Fellows Gear Shaper Co. upon graduation and worked there until his retirement in 1983. He was manager of General Engineering at the time of his retirement. Mr. Harriman served as his town’s auditor, on the School Planning and Building Committee and the Planning Commission for nine years. He was a life member and past chairman of the Twin States Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He maintained memberships in the Canaan Historical Society and the Alumni Association. His family includes his wife; a daughter, Mary Lynda Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah; a son, Wilson (Bill) of Aspen, Colo.; and four grandchildren. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Springfield, Vt. today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m., with Fr. James Shea presiding.
