He was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Malden, Mass., the son of the late Emerson D. and Helen (Castle) Conrad Sr. He attended local schools and then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country proudly during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal. He worked for some time as a cabinet and furniture maker at the H.S. Sacks Co. in Brookline, Mass., and later worked for Musman Oil Co. as a mechanic. He was a dedicated and loyal employee at that company for 20 years. He and his family moved from Lynn, Mass., to Eliot in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Carol Waitt, whom he married in Lynn. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Emerson Conrad III and Edward Conrad, both of Lynn, Mass., and Edwin Danial Conrad of South Berwick; three daughters, Donna Lee Dube of Lovell, Deborah Jane Morrissey of Woburn, Mass., and Diane Jane Monks of Lynn, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William Vernon Conrad. CONRAD - Emerson Conrad Jr. of Eliot, Maine, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000. There will be no public visitation, and a private memorial service will take place at a later date.
