Nelson, 94, of Allenstown, died at her home, with her family, on Monday, Dec. 4, 2000. She was born on July 26, 1906, a daughter of Martin C. and Sadie Jane (Tapley) Shufelt in Martinville, Quebec. Florence was an avid radio Red Sox fan to the end, and known by many for her keen awareness as a champion Scrabble® player. She also passed down a lot of family threads through the art of quilting that she had perfected. Surviving family includes one son, Rudy Nelson of Whitefield; two daughters, Carol Fleming of Manchester, and Barbara Bilodeau of Allenstown; one brother, James Shufelt of British Columbia; one sister, Evelyn Baker of Ontario; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Waldo Nelson, March 24, 1981; and her daughter, Eleanor Martin, in 1998.
