She was Born in Nashua, N.H., on March 26, 1911, to James Francis and Amy Hope (Kitchener) Dinan. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1928 and Nashua Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1932. She worked for many years at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Bellows Falls and retired after a long and fulfilling career as a registered nurse, one she remembered with great pride. She was a member of Saint Charles Church, a former member of the Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of America, and she taught CCD. She was a member of the Rockingham Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served as a den mother for the Saint Charles Cub Scout Pack No. 32. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters, visiting with her friends, knitting, reading, housework and flowers. On June 2, 1934, she married Leonard W. McAuliffe of Bellows Falls at St. Patrick's Church in Nashua. He was the love of her life. They had three very supportive and caring sons, Leonard, and his wife, Maggie, of Portsmouth, N.H., James, and his wife, Nancy, of Brighton, Mich., and Gerald, and his wife, Hania, of Springfield. Her only brother, Robert Dinan, lives in Rhode Island. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard, in 1960, and two sisters, Elinor Casey and Elizabeth Giles. For the last 30 years, of her life, she invested herself in the lives of her eight grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a very warm and loving person with a heart of gold. In her years as a nurse, she cared deeply for her patients and for those who worked by her side. In her later years, she especially enjoyed the company of small children, her family, and friends at the McGirr Home. MCAULIFFE - Geraldine Frances McAuliffe, 89, of Bellows Falls, Vt., died Dec. 10, 2000. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls. We will then celebrate her life in a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Friday in Saint Charles Church in Bellows Falls. The Rev. Brian Mead will officiate. She will be buried at Saint Charles Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
