Davis JEFFERSON - Isabelle S. Davis, 77, died on Monday morning, Nov. 27, 2000 at the Littleton Regional Hospital after a recent illness. Mrs. Davis was born in Milan on Dec. 17, 1922, the daughter of Stanley and Mary (Harriman) Scott. Raised in Milan, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Berlin High School. For 46 years she was a school bus driver in Jefferson. For many of those years, she owned and operated her own bus, along with her husband, Harold E. Davis. For the past 11 years she drove bus for Bruce Transportation. In 1996, she was awarded School Bus Driver of the Year by the Department of Transportation. In the 40s she was a chaffer for Alice and Pete Baker, loggers for the Brown Company. She also assisted her father with his duties as a fire warden. At White Mountains Regional High School she worked as a substitute teacher and also was an adult educator assisting those earning a G.E.D. She was an avid horsewoman and for many years actively assisted Harold on the family farm. She was a member of St. John’s Methodist Church, Jefferson, and the White Mountain Riding Club. She was a former member of the Grange. For several years she was involved with the PTA and an active 4-H leader. Family members include her husband, Harold, of Jefferson; four children, Randall S. Davis of Groveton, Linda L. Cushman of Jefferson, Lewis H. Davis of Curtis, Wisc. and Dean E. Davis of North Woodstock; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is the last of eight children and was predeceased by a grandson, Benjamin Davis. Visiting hours will be held today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster. Co-officiating will be the Rev. Dean A. Stiles, pastor, and the Rev. Ernest Gault, pastor of the Twin Mountain Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jefferson.
