Blodgett, 84, of Stratford, died on Wednesday, November 29, 2000 at Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster after a sudden illness. Born on October 2, 1916 in Whitefield, she was the daughter of Guy T. and Carrie B. (Merriam) Gardner and a lifelong resident of North Stratford. She was graduated from the Stratford Public School, Class of 1935. Before retiring in 1992 she worked as a paymaster for the Balsams Hotel. She was a member of the Stratford Hollow Methodist Church. She played the organ (both pipe and regular) for church, funeral and wedding services, and also for fun. She was a member of the Stratford Grange. She was interested in Stratford School activities, and was a past Treasurer for the Stratford Hollow Fire Department, which she did for many years. Mrs. Blodgett is survived by her husband of 57 years, Stewart A. Blodgett of Stratford; two sons Bruce and Larry, both of Stratford; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister-in-law, Bertina McMann of Stratford; and two cousins, Eleanor White and Hazel Gardner both of Lancaster. Calling hours were held on Thursday at the Main-Armstrong Funeral Home in Groveton. A funeral service was held on Friday at the Stratford Hollow Methodist Church, with Reverend Alta Chase, pastor, officiating. Burial took place in the Center Stratford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stratford Hollow Methodist Church, c/o Alta Chase, Bog Road, North Stratford, NH 03590. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Main-Armstrong Funeral Home.
