She was born July 5, 1915, in Summer Shade, Ky., the daughter of the late William and Amanda Elizabeth (Crabtree) Webb. She was a resident of Greenland from 1980 to 1995 and of North Hampton from 1995 to 1999. She was formerly employed at the Odd Fellows Home in Concord. She was a member of the Greenland Community Congregational Church and the Women's Alliance of the church; lifetime member of the Greenland Historical Society; member of Pomona Grange No. 1, Oceanside Grange, and the State Grange. She was the wife of the late Robert Wilson Colby, who died in 1957. Survivors include five children, Elizabeth Fletcher of Warner, Robert Colby of Raymond, Richard Colby of Gorham, Maine, Esther Hinz of Concord, and Edward Colby of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Amon Webb of LaPorte, Ind., and Lyle Webb of Newfields; one sister, June Glover of Fremont; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and longtime friend Arthur Todd of North Hampton. She was predeceased by her daughter Linda Colby Shibles in 1980. COLBY - Mrs. Melvinea (Webb) Colby, 85, of 140 Mill Road, North Hampton, died Dec. 29, 2000. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Greenland Community Congregational Church, 2 Post Road, Greenland. Friends invited. No visiting hours. Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice or to the Greenland Community Congregational Church, 2 Post Road, Greenland, NH 03840. Arrangements by the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home. Melvinea Colby NORTH HAMPTON - Memorial services for Mrs. Melvinea (Webb) Colby, 85, of 140 Mill Road, North Hampton, were held from J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth on Tuesday, with services held at the Greenland Community Congregational Church in Greenland. The Rev. Douglas Carter, pastor, officiated. Ida Morang was organist. In attendance were members of the church, including members of the Women's Alliance; representatives from Pomona Grange; Oceanside Grange; and the Greenland Historical Society.
