Mr. Cote was born on May 4, 1928 in Manchester, the son of Philemon and Zelia (Bergeron) Cote. He attended school in Canada and was married to Pauline Lanctot on August 22, 1953. Mr. Cote was employed for a time as a cook for the Rancourt woods camp in Maine. He went to work for the Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen Furniture in 1953, retiring from his job in the finishing room in 1993 after 40 years of service. Mr. Cote enjoyed puzzles, gardening, playing cards, hunting and fishing. He bowled for many years in the Canaan Bowling League. He will be remembered as a loving family man, and as a grandfather who could fix anything. He is survived by a son, Jean Cote of Milan, and his fiancée Diane Rice of Canaan; two daughters, Mrs. John (Julie) Charest of West Stewartstown and Mrs. Wayne (Louise) Washburn of Canaan; three brothers, Maurice Cote of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Simon Cote of Quebec City and Real Cote, also of Quebec City; three sisters, Yvette Laroche of Ontario, Mrs. Real (Therese) Derharnais of Montreal and Louisette Cote of Quebec City; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Cote was predeceased by two brothers, Victor and Paul, and two sisters, Simonne and Marcelle. Those who wish to make donations in Mr. Cote's memory may give to the St. Albert School, P.O. Box 177, Beecher Falls, VT 05902. Calling hours were held at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook on Friday, December 8, and funeral services were held at St. Albert Church in West Stewartstown on Saturday. Interment will be in the spring at St. Brendan's Cemetery in Colebrook. Funeral services were under the direction of the Newman Funeral Home.
