St. Laurent ROCHESTER - Paul J. St. Laurent, husband, father, friend, coach, 57, of 209 Milton Road, No. 40, died in his home on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, after a long illness. He was born in Sanford, Maine, on Nov. 1, 1943, and was the son of Raymond and Marabelle (Gilmette) St. Laurent. He was retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard after 17 years of faithful service. He was a devoted member of the Dover Moose and Rochester Elk clubs. His love for music had him involved in several local bands over the last 35 years in various capacities. He was an accomplished musician who played the guitar and piano and was well-regarded as a vocalist. He enjoyed time with his family camping, bass fishing and racing, but most of all Paul enjoyed sharing his time and his energy with the youth of Rochester. His 30 years of contribution to the community's baseball and football youth programs was best demonstrated in his recent election into the Rochester Sports Hall of Fame. "A great person-to-person mentor of youth athletes" was how he was described by several of his peers. His volunteer time in the development of Roger Allen Park was instrumental in its growth in the past 20 years. He had the privilege to coach five Seacoast championship teams and be part of a very successful sports program. Paul's coaching philosophy was a simple one - he instilled in his players the need to strive for maximum personal effort, not just a record of wins and losses. In this, his successes have and will continue to be demonstrated for years to come. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Laurette A. (Tanguay) St. Laurent, whom he married in March 1969; a son, John R. St. Laurent of Amherst; two daughters, Tammy J. St. Laurent of Rochester and Tina M. St. Laurent of Hampton. He was predeceased by two sons, Robert M. St. Laurent and Peter V. St. Laurent. He was the proud Pepé of six grandchildren; and loving brother of three brothers, Roger, Richard and Ronald; and two sisters, Judy St. Laurent and Jeanene Seavy St. Laurent. ST. LAURENT - Paul J.
