Carter PORTSMOUTH - Mr. William C. "Bill" Carter, 75, the husband of Lucille A. (Walker) Carter, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 9, 1925, in Bellows Falls, Vt., he was the son of the late Charles W. and Marian (Hobbs) Carter. He was a graduate of the Charlestown High School in Charlestown and the Strafford Business School in Boston. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at the Hampton Co-Operative Bank in Hampton. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the North Congregational Church in Portsmouth; a former member of the Portsmouth Lions Club; a member of Faithful Lodge No. 12 F&AM in Charlestown, St. John's Lodge No. 1 F&AM of Portsmouth, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Portsmouth and Dover, N.H. Consistory 32nd degree Valley of Nashua, Bektash Temple Shrine of Concord, Washington Chapter No. 3 of Portsmouth, Davenport Council No. 5 of Portsmouth, DeWitt Clinton Commandery No. 2 of Portsmouth; past president Portsmouth Shrine Club; and a member of North Star Lodge of Perfection Valley of Lancaster. Besides his wife of 41 years, survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Beth Pesaresi and son-in-law, Richard, of Portsmouth; two granddaughters, Kati Carter Pesaresi and Kirsti Carter Pesaresi, both of Portsmouth; a brother, Harold G. Carter of Vermont and Clearwater, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. CARTER - William C. "Bill" Carter, 75, of Portsmouth died Dec. 20, 2000. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the North Congregational Church Memorial Chapel, 355 Spinney Road, Portsmouth. Friends invited. Visiting hours will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth, with Masonic services at 5:45 p.m. by St. John's Lodge No. 1 F&AM. Flowers will be accepted. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Centralized Memorial Processing Center, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701; or the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel on Friday, with services held at the North Congregational Church Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Dawn Shippee, pastor, officiated. Gary MacDonald was the organist. In attendance were members of the church; representatives from St. John's Lodge No. 1 F&AM of Portsmouth; and the Portsmouth Shrine Club. Burial was in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, with committal services by the Rev.
