William P. Maguire 

PORTSMOUTH - William P. Maguire, retired Internal Revenue Service executive,
died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, in Maryland at the age of 82. 

He was the husband of the late Pauline J. (Desjardins) Maguire and was a 
lifelong resident of Portsmouth. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School 
and Wentworth Institute. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. 

He was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until the 1960s, when he 
accepted a position with the IRS at its Portsmouth office. He later served 
with the IRS from the Boston regional office as personnel supervisor until 
his retirement. After retirement he served as a member of the board of 
directors of the Northeast Federal Credit Union. 

He enjoyed gardening, being the "family chef" and spending time with his 
family. 

He is survived by a daughter, Charlene Hescock of Chevy Chase, Md.; a son, 
Sean Maguire of Centerville, Mass.; and five grandchildren.
