She was born May 28, 1913 in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of the late Max and Rose (Root) Katz. She was predeceased by her husband, Nathan Steir. Mrs. Steir is survived by her daughter, Rita Spiegelman and her husband Stanley of Brockton, Mass.; her son, Michael Steir and his wife Linda of Atkinson; a daughter-in-law, Carol Steir of Westboro, Mass.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Sept. 29 at the Pride of Lynn Cemetery in Lynn, Mass. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements were by the Levine-Briss Funeral Home, Randolph, Mass. Dorothy V.C. Wood EAST KINGSTON -- Dorothy V.C. (Smith) Wood, 92, of 5 Rowell Cove Road, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 at Dover Rehabilitation Center, Dover. She was born in Plainfield, N.J., attended local schools and graduated from Plainfield High School. She had been a resident of East Kingston since 1994. A resident of Brickton, N.J. for most of her life, Mrs. Wood worked as a legal secretary for several law firms and also operated an antique doll hospital which was known as the Maydor Doll Hospital. She volunteered as a "gray lady" at the Veteran's Administration Hospital near her home and also collected antique dolls. She was also a member of the Brettonwoods Property Owner's Association. Mrs. Wood was predeceased by her husband Russell Wood. She is survived by her daughter Jane Query and her husband William of Plaistow; a sister, Gloria Arrington of California; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Private services were held at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow, with burial in the Alpine Cemetery, Somerville, N.J. Yvonne M. Boivin FREMONT -- Yvonne M. Boivin, 89, of 442 Main St., and formerly a longtime resident of Haverhill, Mass., died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home. She was born in Haverhill and raised in South Groveland, Mass. She was a former resident of Packer Meadows in Newton. Mrs. Boivin attended Villa Augustina School in Goffstown and graduated from Groveland (Mass.) High School. A 50-year resident of the Haverhill-Bradford area, Mrs. Boivin worked as a clerk in the cosmetics department of the former Mitchell's Department Store in Haverhill. She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church parish and a former member of Sacred Hearts Parish. Mrs. Boivin was predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Boivin who died in 1976. She is survived by her son, Richard P. Boivin and his wife Judith of Newton; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three nephews; and one niece. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Mary Mother of the Church. Burial was in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements were by Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. Geoffrey S. Yannalfo EAST HAMPSTEAD -- Geoffrey "Geoff" Yannalfo, 9, of 175 Harper Ridge Road, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000 from injuries sustained in a dirt bike accident in Hampstead. He was born in Haverhill, but lived all of his life in East Hampstead. He attended the Hampstead Village Pre-school and was a fourth-grade student at the Hampstead Central School. Geoff was a member of Saint Anne's Parish of Hampstead and was also a member of the Hampstead Hurricanes Travel Soccer Team where he played as a goalie. He enjoyed skiing, rollerblading and playing on the town baseball team. He is survived by his mother, Janice (Peluso) Yannalfo of East Hampstead; his father, Gary Yannalfo of Bradford, Mass.; two sisters, his twin Alicia Joy Yannalfo and Nicole Virginia Yannalfo, both of East Hampstead; maternal grandparents, Frank and Virginia Peluso of North Andover, Mass.; his paternal grandmother, Gail Yannalfo of North Conway; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 5. Burial was in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover. Memorial donations may be made to the Geoff S. Rosene, 53, of 190 Fremont Road, Sandown, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 at her home. She was born Oct. 12, 1946 in Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of Rita (Guillmette) Plourde and the late Louis Plourde. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School, and after moving from Haverhill, lived in Sandown for the past three years. Mrs. Rosene had been employed as a customer service representative for Shaheen Brothers in Amesbury, Mass. She enjoyed motorcycling and camping. Mrs. Rosene was predeceased by a son, Shawn Hamel. She is survived by her husband, Alan M. Rosene of Sandown; one daughter, Debra Hamel of Worcester, Mass.; her mother, Rita Plourde of Methuen, Mass.; two sisters, Elaine Balsamo of Florida and Pauline Verville of Methuen; one grandson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be Friday, Oct. 6 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Peabody Funeral Home, 460 Main St., Sandown. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Peabody Funeral Home. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Sandown. Isabelle B. Page HAVERHILL, Mass. -- Isabelle B. Page, 87, formerly of Haverhill Crossing and Maplewood Terrace, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 at the Oxford Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born Jan. 7, 1913 in Haverhill, the daughter of the late Robert C. and A. Gertrude (Woodbury) Granton. Mrs. Page was a lifelong resident of Haverhill. She graduated as a class officer from Haverhill High School in 1930 and continued her education at Burdett College in Boston. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Church in Bradford, Mass., the 1937 Mother's Club, the XV Club, and the Haverhill Country Club. She served as both a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader for several years. Mrs. Page was an avid skier and golfer. She was predeceased by her husband, James R. Page, who died in 1969 and was later married to Donald Bingham who died in 1982. She is survived by her sons, William G. Page of Bangkok, Thailand, and James G. Page and his wife Louise of Newton, Mass.; a daughter, Pamela Traver and her husband Charles of Atkinson; a sister, Beryl Williams of Louisville, Ky; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Bradford. Dorothy Boyd NEWTON -- Dorothy Boyd, 82, a former resident of South Main Street and Packer Meadows, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000 at Warde Health Center in Windham. She was born June 11, 1918 in West Kingston, the daughter of the late Horace and Sadie (Bowley) Chubbuck. Mrs. Boyd had been a resident of Newton for more than 50 years. She was a retired employee of both Knipe Shoe of Ward Hill and Wise Shoe in Exeter. Mrs. Boyd was predeceased by her husband, Merton E. Boyd, who died in 1986. She is survived by a son Jerome Boyd and his wife Jan of Palm Harbor, Fla.; a brother, Daniel Chubbuck of Exeter; two granddaughters, Amy Bo of Lawrence, Mass., and Lisa Boyd of Seabrook; three great grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday and burial followed at the Highland Cemetery, Newton. Donations may be made to Warde Health Center, 21 Searles Road, Windham, N.H. 03087.
