(Brown) Bickford, 87, of North Road, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home. She was born June 7, 1913, in South Hampton, the daughter of the late Harry G. and Annie (Dow) Brown and resided most of her life in South Hampton. Mrs. Bickford was a housekeeper for Elton's Orchard, Hampton Falls, for many years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and decorating. The widow of Randolph T. Bickford, who died in 1968, she is survived by two sons and their wives, Randolph T. and Roberta Bickford Jr. of South Hampton and Henry E. and Nancy Bickford of Exeter; two daughters, Mary Young and her husband Jim of Plaistow and Linda Pitts; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Brown of Kensington and Ralph Brown of Raymond; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Paul C. Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Amesbury, Mass. Interment was in Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook. Beverly C. Goodridge EAST HAMPSTEAD -- Beverly C. (Lawton) Goodridge, 51, of 3 Pitman Road, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at her home after a two-year battle with a brain tumor. She was born in Newton, Mass., and was raised in Wellesley, Mass., and had resided in Hampstead for 11 years. She was a graduate of Wellesley High School and received her bachelor of arts degree from the College of Charleston, S.C. Mrs. Goodridge was a certified public accountant with her own practice and was employed in local accounting firms. She had previously worked as an English teacher in South Carolina. She was a member of the Island Pond Baptist Church, Hampstead; the New Hampshire Society of CPAs; the A.I.C.P.A.; the Quota Club of Haverhill, Mass.; and PACE. She was a two-term member of the Hampstead School Board. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Frederick R. Goodridge; one son, Jeffrey P. Simms of Beverly, Mass.; twins, Malcolm L. and Elizabeth J. Goodridge of East Hampstead; her father, Theodore Lawton of Harwich, Mass.; one stepson, Graham M. Goodridge and a stepdaughter, Amelia J. Goodridge, both of Pepperell, Mass.; one sister, Judith Oro of Beverly, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services were held Thursday in Island Pond Baptist Church, Hampstead. Committal services were held in Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. Priscilla DeRoche RAYMOND -- Priscilla Lee DeRoche, 84, of Brown Road, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2000, at her son's home in Raymond. She was born May 12, 1916, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of the late Josef and Amelia (Cothard) Morris. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Mark J. DeRoche of Raymond; three daughters,, Betty Ann Routt of Fairborn, Ohio, Priscilla M. Harvey of Hudson, and Judith L. Thornton of Ward Hill, Mass.; one son, Steven M. DeRoche of Raymond; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Piper, 75, of 3 Cote Circle, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at her home. She was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Raymond, the daughter of the late Alcide and Ruth (Downing) Cote and was a lifelong resident of Raymond. She was a 1943 graduate of Raymond High School. Mrs. Piper and her sister were former owners and operators of the Longbranch Restaurant in Raymond and was formerly employed at the Birchwood Nursing Home in Derry for several years. She was a member of the Maple Wheadon Post No. 4479 Ladies Auxiliary, Raymond. The widow of Clyde Piper, she is survived by one daughter and her husband, Delphina and David King of Raymond; one grandson; her twin sister, Geraldine Mataragas of Raymond; and one niece and two nephews. Baker EAST KINGSTON -- Helen May (Cilley) Baker, 101, of Depot Road, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, after a brief illness. She was born July 13, 1899, in Kingston, the daughter of George and Lela M. (Bartlett) Cilley and had been a longtime resident of East Kingston. Mrs. Baker was an active member of the East Kingston Community Methodist Church. She was a past master of Wingold Grange; past Nobel Grand of Ruth Rebekah Lodge No. 66; a member of the N.H. Rebekah Assembly; past matron of Corinthian Order of the Eastern Star, now Corinthian Queen Esther Lodge. The widow of Frederick G. Baker Jr., who died in 1984, she is survived by two daughters, Marion B. Avery of Exeter and Ruth Palmer of East Kingston; one son, George F. Baker of East Kingston; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Spring graveside services will be held in Hillside Cemetery, East Kingston. Tara R. Dias FREMONT -- Tara Rosato Dias, 29, of Round Robin Loop, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. She was born July 14, 1971, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of Joseph and Colleen (Fitzsimmons) Rosato of Buffalo and had resided in New England for the past seven years. She attended Long Island University and was a cum laude graduate of State University of New York at Cortland with a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education. Mrs. Dias worked with troubled youths in association with the Eckerd Youth Alternatives Inc. She enjoyed playing softball with a coed traveling team and the beach. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Keith Dias of Fremont; one daughter, Kaley Dias; one stepdaughter, Kyrstin Dias; six sisters, Gina Carandas, Lisa Zeidman, Rita Pitassi, Margo Stevens, Dana Morris and Dominique Rosato; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Graveside services were in Millstream Cemetery, Kingston. Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter. M. Christine Welsh HAMPTON -- M. Christine "Chris" Welsh, 60, of 115 Little River Road, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. She was born April 12, 1940 in Somerville, Mass., the daughter of the late Daniel E. and Esther (Sullivan) Coughlin. Mrs. Welsh was raised in Somerville and graduated from St. Clements High School with the Class of 1957 and in 1960 from the Catherine Laboure School of Nursing in Dorchester, Mass. After moving from Piscataway, N.J., she resided in Hampton for the past 27 years. She served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Nurse Corps in the early 1960s. Mrs. Welsh worked as a registered nurse in the emergency department of the Exeter Hospital for 18 years and for the past five years was with Susan Terreault, MD. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, John J. "Jack" Welsh; two sons, John J. Welsh V of Greenville, S.C., and Daniel E. Welsh of Hampton Falls; one brother, Daniel E. Coughlin of Hampton; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton with the Rev. Michael J. Griffin officiating. Burial followed in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton. The United States flag, which lay on the casket, was presented to Mrs. Welsh's husband. Szacik, 77, of Grant Road, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at his home. He was born June 23, 1923, in Newmarket, the son of John and Balbina (Drzymalski) Szacik and was a lifelong resident of Newmarket. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Szacik owned Johnson Farm Supply and Epping Hardware and was a self-employed plumber in the Seacoast area. He was a member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Post No. 67 in Newmarket. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Velma (Coombs) Szacik of Newmarket; three sons, John D. Szacik of Orlando, Fla., A. Michael Szacik of Manchester and Peter S. Szacik of Madbury; two daughters and their husbands, Cheryl and Fred Edgerly of Newmarket and Janet and James Webber of Gonic; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was born Aug. 22, 1954, in Phoenix, Ariz., the son of Wesley G. and Phyllis (Johnson) Pelley of Ocala, Fla., He had resided in Strafford and Florida moving to Kensington 15 years ago. Mr. Pelley was an iron worker in Boston and was a member of Local 474 in Manchester. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 15 years, Sharon (Houghton) Pelley of Kensington; two stepchildren, Jessica Boccelli of Stratham and Brett Hallinan of Exeter; one brother, Steve Pelley of Strafford; and one niece. Born in Fitzwilliam, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Enoch Brandt and Aurora Iso-Harro Brandt. She was the wife of the late Albert Berube. She resided most of her adult life in Boston, Mass. Upon retirement, she moved to Sherwood Forest in Exeter, N.H. Survivors include her daughter, Suan E. Hearst of Columbia, S.C.; and son, Thomas Berube of Revere, Mass. Winifred M. Kingston NEWFIELDS -- Winifred Mae Yager Kingston, 69, died of lung cancer Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at her home. She was born May 27, 1931, in Hackettestown, N.J. the daughter of Helen M. Yager of Exeter and the late Charles Yager. She had resided in Newfields for many years. She was a graduate of Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, N.J., where she received her degree in nursing. Mrs. Kingston and her late husband owned and operated The Nook and Granny in York, Maine, a small antique business. She enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, painting, rug hooking, sewing and "antiquing." The widow of William B. "Willie" Kingston Jr., her husband of 40 years, in addition to her mother, she is survived by five daughters, Kathleen A. Kingston of Anchorage, Alaska, Sally A. Kingston of Santa Barbara, Calif.; Nancy M. Kingston of Newfields; Carol L. Mucci and her husband Joseph of Windham; and Patricia V. Mosher and her husband H. Todd of Gardiner, Maine; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Roy N. Yager of Hackettestown. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday in Sacred Heart Church, Newfields. Burial was in Rockingham Cemetery, Newfields. He was born Oct. 27, 1944, in Syracuse, N.Y., the son of Ralph E. Kelley Sr. of Sayre, Pa., and the late Ruth (Johnston) Kelley. He was raised in Constantia, N.Y., moving to Kingston in 1977. He was a graduate of P.V. Moore High School. Mr. Kelley was a senior project engineer for Westinghouse Electric Co. of Newington, formerly known as ABB Combustion Engineering Nuclear Power of Newington. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and was on the pit crew at Lee Raceway. He also had raced at Star Speedway in Epping. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Eleanor C. (DeVany) Kelley of Kingston; one son and his wife, Sean P. and Cynthia Kelley of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Christine E. Kelley of Exeter; two grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph E. Kelley Jr. of Central Square, N.Y., and Peter G. Kelley and Donald N. Kelley, both of Constantia; his stepmother, Helen Kelley of Sayre; and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
