Ahearn PORTSMOUTH - Catherine C. Ahearn, 83, formerly of 132 Chapel St. and 280 McKinley Road, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at the Mark Wentworth Home after a long period of failing health. Born in Portsmouth on Dec. 20, 1917, she was the daughter of Edward J. and Nora (Bluett) Ahearn. She was a graduate of St. Patrick School; Portsmouth High School, Class of 1935, where she received the Haven Medal for Latin; and the University of New Hampshire, Class of 1939, where she was a member of the Khi Omega Sorority. From the onset of World War II until her retirement, she was employed in the comptroller's office at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. She was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and a former member of the Wentworth Fairways and the Portsmouth Hospital Guild. Survivors include two brothers, James N. Ahearn and his wife, Lucille, of South Portland, Maine; Thomas P. Ahearn of Portsmouth; one sister, Jackie Gillespie, and her husband, Jim, of South Portland, Maine; and many devoted nieces, nephews and grandnephews. AHEARN - Catherine C.
