Downing MEREDITH - Charles C. "Tom" Downing, 58, of Oakwood Road, died on Jan. 29, 2001, in Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia. Born in Plymouth on May 16, 1947, he was the son of Charles H. and Jean B. (Gray) Downing. Raised in Thornton, he lived in Meredith since 1989. He graduated from Lin-Wood High School, Lincoln. Mr. Downing worked as a mechanic for service stations in the Plymouth and Capmton area. He owned and operated the Meredith Citgo station since the early 1990s. Family members include two sons, Timothy M. Downing of Whitefield, and David C. Downing of Thornton; five grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Pickering of Thornton; and his companion, Susan (Pinto) Gray of Meredith.
