Catherine M. Mercier 

BLACKSTONE, Mass. - Catherine M. Mercier, 96, formerly of Joseph
Early Village, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at the Rockingham County
Nursing Home, Brentwood. 

She was born May 22, 1904, in Blackstone, the daughter of the late John
and Agnes (Shurick) O'Neil and was educated in Blackstone schools. 

Mrs. Mercier was a specker inspector for the woolen and textile mills in
Blackstone and Woonsocket, R.I. 

The widow of Alfred L. Mercier, who died in 1988, she is survived by
two daughters, Eleanor Reid of Brentwood and Carol Ellison of Eugene,
Ore.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews. 

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in St. Paul's Cemetery,
Blackstone. 

Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.
