She was born in Glendive, Mont., on May 26, 1916, the daughter of the late Ralph L. and Sarah (McCullough) Hunt. She was a graduate of Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine, with the class of 1933, and of Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, in 1937; she did graduate work at the University of Maine and Boston University. She was active for many years in the field of education. She taught English and history in the schools of Maine and in the American School at Wheelus Air Force Base in Libya, North Africa, before retiring in 1969 from 12 years of teaching at Hampton Academy Jr. High School. She was active in the Seacoast Teachers' Association, The Winnacunnet Scholarship Grant Fund and served on various committees at the Exeter Country Club, where she was a playing member in the ACBL Bridge Club. She moved to Exeter in 1998 from Hampton, where she had lived for 30 years. She was the wife of the late Carl C. Ellis, who died in 1997. Family members include two daughters, Susan Halliday Smith, of North Hampton, and Sally H. Halvorsen, of Bethlehem; and three grandchildren, Christopher Smith, of Atlanta, Ga., Jennifer Brooks, of Denver, Colo., and Ralph "Jeff" Brooks, of Manchester. ELLIS - Elizabeth H. Ellis, of Langdon Place, Exeter, formerly of North Hampton, died on Jan. 11, 2001. Services will be held at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2001. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The family requests there be no visiting hours and that flowers please be omitted.
