She was the daughter of George and Marion Whittemore. She graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1929, where she was a member of the Debating Club. She worked for the Molly Button Factory and married James E. Haigh in 1935. She and her husband raised four children, Barry W. of Plainfield, N.J.; Bruce W. of Sinking Spring, Pa.; Brian W. and Barbara Jean McMahon, both of Doylestown, Pa. She and her husband and children moved to Oreland, Pa., where she lived until her husband died in 1980. She then moved to Hillsboro, Texas, with her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Eileen Haigh. While in Hillsboro, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Monday Review Club, Garden Club, Volunteer for Bond's Alley and First Ms. Late Bloomer. She was a founding member of the Corsican Street Late Bloomer's Fourth of July Parade and a member of the Hill County Republican Women's Club. She moved to New Jersey in 1992. While in Plainfield, N.J., she was active as a member and past president of the North Plainfield Women's Club, a member of AARP, and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She moved to the New Jersey Eastern Star Home, where she died, in July. She is survived by three daughters-in-law, Eileen, Joanne and Nori; one son-in-law, Ed; seven grandchildren, Barbara Ann Hoeppner, Kristine Anne Stevens, James Edward, Robert Brian, Amanda Jo, Heather and Kevin Haigh; five great-grandchildren, Robert and Drew Hoeppner, Harley Michael Haigh, Dakota Seth and Cheyenne Brittany Stevens.
