Gertrude Leighton 

STARK - Gertrude (Bennett) Leighton, 90, formerly of Paris Road in Crystal, 
died on Jan. 31, 2001, at the Country Village Center in Lancaster. 

She was born in Yarmouth, Me. on Jan. 5, 1911, the daughter of Daniel and 
Henrietta (Johnton) Bennett, and had been a resident of Crystal since 1931. 
She was a member of the West Milan United Methodist Church. She loved her 
family and her friends. Her interests were gardening and fishing. 

Members of the family include a daughter, Mrs. Robert H. (Valerie) LaPointe 
of Gorham; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three 
great-great-grandchildren. She was the widow of Ashley Leighton, who died on 
Aug. 6, 1979. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gorham Public Library, 35 
Railroad St., Gorham 03581.
