Lonergan PORTSMOUTH - George W. Lonergan, 71, of 140 Court St., died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Boston on Sept. 6, 1929, he was the son of George and Drucilla (Carter) Lonergan and had been a resident of Portsmouth for the past 10 years, moving here from Point Pleasant, N.J. He was a graduate of Millburn High School in Millburn, N.J., and attended Georgetown University, Newark College of Engineering and Union Junior College. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was employed by Torwico Electronics from 1956 until retiring in 1989. He had a great appreciation for music and also enjoyed movies, reading, the New York Jets, the New York Yankees and the New York Times. Survivors include a sister, Mary J. Coombs, of Greenland; two brothers, Peter J. Lonergan and Martin P. Lonergan, both of Hampton Falls; 16 nieces and nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. PHILLIPS - James E. "Buddy" Phillips III, 58, of 20 Kentville Terrace, Hampton Beach, died Jan. 8, 2001. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal church, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Remick & Gordon Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton.
