Berthel NORTH STRATFORD - Jack C. Berthel, 19, of North Stratford died on Monday, Jan. 1, 2001 in Maidstone, Vt. He was born on May 2, 1981, the son of Glen C. and Brenda (Martineau) Berthel. He was a 1999 graduate of Stratford High School. After high school Mr. Berthel was employed by Ethan Allen Furniture in Beecher Falls, Vt. until his death. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in North Stratford and the Colebrook Men’s Basketball League. He enjoyed physical fitness, basketball and baseball. Mr. Berthel’s family includes his father, Glen C. Berthel of Concord; his mother, Brenda Berthel of Peterborough; a brother, Glen B. Berthel of Concord; his stepmother, Sue St. Pierre of North Stratford; a step brother, Brian Miller of Franklin; his foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Connary of North Stratford; a foster brother, Jonathan Connary; and three foster sisters, Sheila Connary, April Connary and Abyanna Connary. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Newman Funeral Home, 136 Main St., Colebrook. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, at Sacred Heart Church in North Stratford. Interment will be in the spring. Those wishing to make memorials in Mr. Berthel’s name can send their donations to the Jack Berthel Fund, c/o first Colebrook Bank, 147 Main St., Colebrook, NH 03576, Attn. Rosemary Mulliken. Proceeds from the fund will be used toward athletic endeavors in the town of Stratford.
