Hinkley GROVETON - Katherine L. (Savage) Hinkley, 80, of Groveton died at Weeks Medical Center on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 after a brief illness. Born on April 10, 1920, in Lancaster, the daughter of William and Angie "Moses" Savage, she was a Groveton resident since 1947. She was a graduate of Lancaster Academy class of 1937. She was a telephone operator from 1937-1942, when she married her husband and became a homemaker. She married Robert I. Hinkley on June 8, 1942, in New Haven, Conn., while he was still a student at Yale Medical School. They lived in Utah from 1945 until 1947, when they moved to Groveton. Mrs. Hinkley was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church. She was a past member of the Groveton Methodist Women’s Club. She was in the Women’s Bowling League for several years. She enjoyed golfing in her earlier years. She loved vacation trips to Myrtle Beach, S.C. and York Beach, Me. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and tending to her family. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Robert I. Hinkley of Groveton; one son, Dr. William Hinkley of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Carolyn "Dani") Lunn of Whitefield; one granddaughter; Katherine Hinkley of Wentzville, Missouri; two grandsons, Jeffrey Lunn of Waltham, Mass. and William Lunn of Mystic, Conn.; and one brother, Leonard Savage and his wife, Virginia, of Lancaster. She was predeceased by two bothers, George and Bernard. There will be no calling hours at Katherine’s request and a graveside service will be held in the spring at the Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Groveton Ambulance Corps, c/o E.R. Mason, 1 Arlington Ave., Groveton, NH 03582 or the Week’s Medical Center Building Fund, c/o Marion McCaig, 173 Middle Street, Lancaster, NH 03584.
