Funkhouser SEWICKLEY, Pa. - Louise Thompson Funkhouser, 94, died January 29, 2001, at Valley Care Masonic Center, Sewickley. She was born in 1904 in Woodstock, Va., the daughter of J. Harris and Nettie Thompson. She had resided in Exeter from 1933 until 1986 when she moved to Williamsville, N.Y., and then to Sewickley to be near her daughter. She was a graduate of Lexington (Va.) High School and studied organ and piano at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and the Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Funkhouser was the organist and choir director at the Methodist Church in Lexington and at Lee Chapel of Washington and Lee University in Lexington before her marriage. She was known for her hospitality, her wit and sense of humor and as an amateur actress in local theater productions. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. The widow of Howard Gray Funkhouser, she is survived by one son and his wife, Dr. John G. and Andrea Funkhouser of Okemos, Mich.; one daughter and her husband, Ann and the Rev. David McFarlane of Sewickley; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. Memorial services were held February 17 in the Presbyterian Church, Sewickley. Interment will be in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, Lexington, Va.
