Lawrence V. Hampton Sr 

PORTSMOUTH - Lawrence V. Hampton Sr., 72, of 123 Blue
Heron Drive, died Jan. 28, 2001. 

Born in New York City on Jan. 15, 1928, he was the son of the late
Luther and Irene (Harvey) Hampton, and lived in Portsmouth for the
past 27 years. 

He was a U.S. Navy veteran for 22 years, serving in World War II,
the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the
American Legion Post No. 0006. He collected coins. 

Family members include his wife of 46 years, Hattie (Uddyback)
Hampton of Lynn, Mass.; two sons, Lawrence V. Hampton Jr., of
Eliot, Maine; and Sebastian Hampton of Lorton, Va.; two daughters,
Brenda Hampton of Naples, Fla.; and Sharie Hampton of Dover; five
grandchildren; a brother, Martin Hampton of Mount Vernon, N.Y.;
and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Burial was at 1 p.m. Thursday in Boscawen State Veterans Cemetery
in Boscawen, with full military service. Donations may be made to the
Horizon Soup Kitchen, 199 Manchester St., Manchester, NH 03103.
