Allaire WELLS, Maine - Raymond S. Allaire, 80, of Atlantic Avenue, Wells Beach, formerly of Sanford, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at the York Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Concord, N.H., on April 9, 1920, a son of Amedee J. and Annie (Buchanan) Allaire. He graduated from Sanford High School. He served in the Army during World War II. He was employed by the Sanford School Department as janitor for many years and was also a 20-year reserve member of the Sanford Police Department, from which he retired several years ago. He also worked at Sprague Electric. Most recently, he was a volunteer at York Hospital. He was a member of the Sanford Lodge of Elks; past commander and lifetime member of American Legion Post No. 19; and lifetime member of Sanford Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sanford Fraternal Order of Eagles and the AARP. He enjoyed ceramics and traveling. He was predeceased by two wives, Winifred, who died in 1974, and Rachel, who died in 1992; and a brother Donat who died in 1999. He is survived by four stepdaughters, Mrs. Ray (Phyllis) Lariviere of Biddeford, Mrs. Fernald (Gloria) LeBlanc of Springvale, Sylvia Cote of Lenoir City, Tenn., and Marlene Farnon of York; three brothers, Robert of Sanford, Andrew of Somersworth, N.H., and Larry of Montgomery, Ala.; five sisters, Mrs. Ted (Lillian) Perron and Mrs. Claire Gorman, both of Farmington, N.H., Mrs. Oscar (Diane) Bourque, Mrs. Bill (Helen) Vigue, and Mrs. Stella Dion, all of Sanford, and nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. ALLAIRE - Raymond S. Allaire, 80, of Wells Beach, Maine, died Jan. 3, 2001. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, where a funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Joseph Ford officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford, Maine, in the spring.
