Epperson RYE - Col. Virgil R. Epperson, U.S. Air Force, retired, 84, formerly of Baytown, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Goose Creek, Texas. He was an Air Force officer, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, and attended Cedar Bayou United Methodist Church. He was the husband of the late Barbara B. Epperson. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, G. William and Catherine Epperson of Rye; a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Pete Jennings of Rye; brothers, Ishmael Epperson of Baytown, Texas, and Willis Epperson of Blessing, Texas; grandchildren, Troy Jennings, Kelly Jennings, Kim Jennings Whaley, Kerry Jennings, Kristy Jennings, Seth Epperson, Amanda Epperson and Spencer Epperson; and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Wand Joy Epperson. EPPERSON - Col. Virgil R. Epperson, U.S. Air Force, retired, 84, of Rye, formerly of Baytown, Texas, died Jan. 4, 2001. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Bayou (Texas) United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dan Miller officiating. Visiting hours will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Navarre Funeral Home, Baytown.
