Thompson YORK, Maine - Arnold L. Thompson, 68, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, following a long illness, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Born Sept. 22, 1932, in Rockland, Maine, he was the son of the late Ralph Irving Thompson and is survived by his mother, Milian V. (Beal) Thompson, of Kittery Point. He was a long-time self-employed lobster fisherman and had lived for the past 25 years in York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1950 to 1953. He loved to read and was a devout supporter of the York Library. He loved his family and friends and was known by all as a generous and caring individual. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Ann Fisk, whom he married in 1953, and was predeceased by his second wife, Patricia Ann Gallagher, whom he married in 1971. Besides his mother, he is survived by his two sons, Evan Thompson of York and Steven Thompson of South Berwick; his stepdaughter, Vicki Poremba of Nottingham; his two stepsons, Martin Evans of Portland, Maine, and Keith Evans of Nottingham; one brother, John Thompson of Scarborough, Maine; and his cherished and loved 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. THOMPSON - Arnold Thompson, 68, of York, Maine, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, in Kittery, Maine. The Rev. George Wardwell, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Kittery Point, will officiate.
