Call STAFFORD, Va. - Charles W. Call, 79, formerly of Exeter, and Woodbridge, Va., died Feb. 8, 2001, at Brooke Nursing Center, Stafford, Va., after a long illness. Born Nov. 23, 1921, in Exeter, he was the son of Arthur J., Sr., and Mabel (Lane) Call. He was a graduate of Exeter High School, class of 1938. He also graduated from McIntosh Business School in Dover, class of 1941. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Philippines, and was awarded numerous medals, including the Bronze Star. He retired after more than 30 years with the Defense Department, at the Pentagon. An avid sports enthusiast, he played on the Exeter Collegians basketball team. He also played on various baseball and softball teams in the Exeter area. While living in Woodbridge he coached Little League baseball and basketball. Family members include two sons, Alan Call of Aylett, Va., and Stephen Call of Stafford, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Pamela) Hunt of Hanover, Va.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Frank (Edith) Whelden of Osterville, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur J. Call Jr. and Dr. Russell J. Call; and three sisters, Ethel Metcalfe, Nellie Young and Dorothy Draper. CALL - Charles W. Call, 79, of Stafford, Va., died Feb. 8, 2001. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Feb. 17 in the downstairs vestry of the First Baptist Church in Exeter. The Rev. Moynihan will officiate. Burial will take place in Quantico Military Cemetery, Quantico, Va., at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory may be sent to First Baptist Church, 2 Spring St., Exeter, NH 03833.
