Grindall EXETER - Clarence G. Grindall, 84, of Sherwood Forest, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Exeter Hospital after a long illness. Born July 17, 1916, in Brooksville, Maine, he was the son of the late Richard and Mattie (Cain) Grindall. He had resided in Exeter for the past 10 years. He had lived in Ashland, Mass., for eight years, and was a longtime resident of Weymouth, Mass. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a former member of an American Legion Post in Massachusetts. For most of his working life, he was a self-employed plumber in the Boston area. He was a member of the Portsmouth Seventh-day Adventist Church and a member of a Masonic Lodge in Massachusetts. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to semi-classical music. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Marilyn M. (Corey) Grindall of Exeter; one son, Bruce Grindall of Weymouth, Mass.; one daughter, Karen Taufman of South Egremont, Mass.; three stepchildren, Velisa Matheny of Burlington, Vt.; Paul Johnson of South Attleboro, Mass.; and Marsha Brodeur of Raynham, Mass.; two grandchildren, Joshua Taufman of Brighton, Mass.; and Jonathan Taufman of South Egremont, Mass; and several stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. GRINDALL - Clarence G. Grindall, 84, of Sherwood Forest, Exeter, died Feb. 7, 200l. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Portsmouth Seventh-day Adventist Church, 861 Middle Road, Portsmouth. Pastor Rick Kunz will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
