Gray LANCASTER - Dorothy M. Gray died in Weeks Medical Center on Feb. 23, 2001 at the age of 93. Born in Derry she was the daughter of the late John Colby Davis Jr. and Janet (Slater) Davis. A graduate of Pinkerton Academy and Plymouth State College, she taught school in New Hampshire and retired from the Kittery (Me.) Scholl Department after serving as a school principal and teacher for many years. She had lived in Dedham, Mass., Portsmouth and Kittery Point, Me. for many years before moving to Lancaster in 1998. Wife of the late Forrest E. Gray, she leaves a daughter, Dorothy-Ann MacInnes and her husband, B. Scott MacInnes of Dedham, four grandchildren: John S. Ingram of Scituate, Mass; Deborah A. (Ingram) Dimmitt of Lancaster; Elizabeth A. (Ingram) Bishop of Hopedale, Mass.; Christopher F. Colhard of Dedham, Mass.; and seven great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Edward L. Davis of Natick, Mass. and Edyth M. Beauchamp of Rockville, Md. She had attended Audubon camping and study facilities in Maine, being honored by the Kittery Public Schools for her interest in nature and bringing it to her classroom. She was an avid and knowledgeable bird watcher, an artist working in oils and creative stitchery, and in her retirement, continuing her studies at the University of New Hampshire and traveled in this country and abroad. Funeral arrangements are by J. Verne Wood Funeral Home, Portsmouth, N.H. A visiting hour will be held in Buckminster Chapel today (Feb.28), followed by services at noon. Burial will be private.
