She was born in Comitini, Italy, on July 2, 1911, a daughter of the late Antonio and Gerlanda (Cannistraro) Cumbo. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Licata was employed as a seamstress for Fenway Manufacturing Co. of Lowell. She was a communicant of St. Margaret Church, and was a member of the Mother Cabrini Society. Besides her husband, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent S. and Gerry Licata of Lowell; a daughter Carmela "Carmy" Jones of Dracut; three sisters and a brother in law, Jane Pirini, Carmella and John O'Connell, and Mary Kozen, all of Portsmouth, N.H.; five grandchildren, Sharon Gallo, Gina Pinkham, Christina Kairouz, Cindy Teixeira and Anthony Jones; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Anthony Licata, sister of the late Stefana Preziosi and mother-in-law of the late Russell Jones. LICATA - Josephine (Cumbo) Licata, 89, a Lowell, Mass., resident, wife of Salvatore "Sam" Licata, died Feb. 1, 2001. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth St., Lowell, Mass. Funeral will be on Monday morning with a Mass to be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. Margaret Church, Lowell, Mass. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Donations in Josephine's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140.
