McCarthy LEOMINSTER, Mass. - Loyola M. (Savage) McCarthy, 78, of 14B Notre Dame St., also of Hampton Beach, died Saturday evening, Feb. 3, 2001, at University Commons Nursing Home, Worcester, Mass., after an illness. She was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Northern Grand Isle, Vt., daughter of Willie A. and Ethel E. (Way) Savage, and came to Leominster many years ago. She owned and operated a nursery school in Marlboro, Mass. She also worked as a nurse's aid in the New England area. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Church in Leominster, the Come Alive after 5 Group in Hampton, and the Friday Knights of Columbus Dance Group, where she was an active member. Her husband, Florence T. McCarthy, died in 1983. A daughter, Gloria Leger of Worcester, died in 1996. Two brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Savage, and one sister, Idella Mazzerole, also died previously. She leaves one daughter, Constance E. York of Chiefland, Fla.; three stepsons, Paul McCarthy of Dennis, Mass., Richard McCarthy of Hudson, Mass., and David McCarthy of Manchester; one stepdaughter, Margaret McCarthy of Framingham, Mass.; one brother, Carl Savage of Florida; two sisters, Florence LeBel of Connecticut and Hazel Mason of Vermont; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. McCARTHY - Loyola M. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at the M.A. Simard & Son Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster, with a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Marlboro, Mass.
