Rabida ISLAND POND, Vt. - Leo E. Rabida, 87, of Island Pond, Vt. died in Barton on Friday, Feb. 16, 2001. He was born in Whitefield on Sept. 2, 1913, the son of Frank and Albina (Dumas) Rabida. Leo worked in the woods and on the family farm before starting with C&N Railroad in 1942, where he worked for 40 years. Leo was an avid gardener and sportsman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and liked picking berries. On Nov. 22, 1937, Leo married the former Loretta Boutin, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughters, Lucille Major of Richmond, Vt. and Helen Shedd of Milton, Vt.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Rhoda Cyr of Glastonbury, Conn., Florence Houle of New Britain, Conn., and Mable Gagnon of Florida. He was predeceased by his sisters, Irene Fortin and Anne Sheriff. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Feb. 19, at St. James Catholic Church in Island Pond with the Rev. James Mattison officiating. Spring interment will take place at the Lakeside Catholic Cemetery in Island Pond.
