Hanscom PORTSMOUTH - Margaret T. (Thompson) Hanscom, 95, widow of Arthur H. Hanscom Sr., of 928 South St., died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at the Edgewood Centre. She was born on Oct. 22, 1905, in Portsmouth, daughter of the late John E. and Mary (Chandler) Thompson. She was a member of the Court-Central Baptist Church for 30 years and a member of the Middle Street Baptist Church for 26 years. She was also a member of the former Fannie A. Gardner Rebecca Lodge #82 and the former Pocahontas. During World War II, she volunteered her services in knitting headgear for servicemen overseas. Survivors include a son, Arthur H. Hanscom of Portsmouth; a daughter, Mary F. Mayhew of Portsmouth; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Ricker of Brentwood; nine nieces; and one nephew. Margaret T. (Thompson) Hanscom PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Margaret T. (Thompson) Hanscom, 95, of 928 South St., Portsmouth, were held at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel on Friday. The Rev. Vivan Martindale, pastor of the Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth, officiated. Millie Lamson was soloist. In attendance were members of the Middle Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Greenland, in the spring.
