Born in Russia on Feb. 13, 1919, he immigrated to the U.S. and worked for many years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. He owned and operated a commercial sign company in Portsmouth before moving to Port Charlotte, Fla. During World War II he served in the Russian Army and fought against the Nazis. He was a member of the Portsmouth Elks Club. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Laura (Bardaczuk) Mazzin of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one son, Al Mazzin and his wife, Diane, of Chelsea, Mass.; four grandchildren; five stepchildren, including Peter Pawula of Portsmouth, Larissa (Pawula) Mulkern and her husband, Michael, of Portsmouth, Stephanie (Koss) Dubowyj and her husband, Andrew, of Londonderry, Natalie (Pawula) Carr and her husband, James, of Pacifica, Calif., and Anna (Kos) Joyal and her husband, Chris, of Carmichael, Calif. MAZZIN - Michael Mazzin, 82, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and for many years a resident of Portsmouth, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, in Port Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at the Russian Orthodox Church of Epiphany, 963 South St., Roslindale, Mass.
