Mr. Howe was born on August 16, 1915 in Columbia, the son of Eben and Vera (Griggs) Howe. After attending school in Columbia, Mr. Howe worked several years for the State of New Hampshire, for the railroad and for Bushrod Hicks' garage in Colebrook. Most recently he was self-employed doing odd jobs throughout the area. Mr. Howe loved the North Country, frequently taking long rides over back roads in his beloved pickup truck. He is survived by two sisters, Hazel Heldie of North Carolina and Dorothy Lancaster of Armenia, N.Y.; Bruce and Lynn Therrien of Colebrook; and several other nieces and nephews. Mr. Howe was predeceased by three brothers, Vaughn, Gilbert and Glen, and by two sisters, Evelyn Howe and Bessie Selfridge. Calling hours were held at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook on Tuesday. A graveside service will be held at Colebrook Village Cemetery in the spring. Donations in memory of Mr. Howe may be sent to the Coös County Nursing Hospital, c/o Sue Collins, P.O. Box 10, West Stewartstown, NH 03597. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Newman Funeral Home.
