Born Sept. 8, 1922, in Newmarket, he was the son of Israel and Sarah (St. Cyr) Demers and was a lifelong resident of Newmarket. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a pipefitter in Shop 56 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed gardening. He was well-known for his fresh vegetables at the vegetable stand located near his garden. He was a member of the Robert G. Durgin A.L. Post No. 67, and Lamprey Aerie No. 1934 F.O.E. both in Newmarket. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, M. Rose (St. Hilaire) Demers of Newmarket; two daughters, Nancy Brown and her husband, Irving "Jack" Brown III, and Nappy Crowley and her husband, Ronald Crowley, all of Newmarket; four grandchildren, Angela Stafford, Jessica Byrd, Matthew Russell and Nathan Russell; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Demers of Newmarket; four sisters, M. Rose Dionne of Brentwood, Bertha Pelletier of Newmarket, Blanche Dube of Center Ossipee and M. Florence Levesque of Epping; and many nieces and nephews. DEMERS - Raymond "Moe" Demers, 78, of New Road, Newmarket, died Feb. 2, 2001. Visiting hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. today (Monday) at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket. American Legion services will be held at 12:50 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service with the Rev. Brian Blair officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket. Rather than flowers, memorials may be made to the Newmarket Ambulance Corps Association, P.O.
