Harrigan, Publisher (Mar 28, 2001 -issue) "All the news that fits" FORMATTED: by CParziale, Mar 2001 ***************************************************************************** Charlotte Taylor CENTRALIA, Wash. - Charlotte Taylor, 87, died on March 10, 2001, at the Sharon Care Center in Centralia, Wash. She had been a resident of Centralia since 1988. She was born in Exeter on June 6, 1913, to Karl T. and Lillian (Smith) Taylor. One of three children, she was a graduate of Laconia High School, valedictorian of the class of 1932. She went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and her master’s degree from Bread Loaf College, Vermont, where she was instructed by the poet Robert Frost. She did further graduate work at Exeter College in Cambridge, England, and at the University of London. She returned to teach high school English in Lancaster for 20 years, and senior English for one year at Montclair, N.J., prior to teaching senior honors English for 30 years in Gloucester, Mass. She will be remembered for taking bus loads of students to the annual Shakespearean Festival in Stratford, Conn. The family includes a sister, Rebecca Taylor Adams of Chehalis, Wash. A memorial service was held on March 18 at St. Timothy Episcopal Church in Chehalis. Spring burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Newmarket.
