Dupont Sr. LANCASTER - Emil A. Dupont Sr., 56, of Portland Street, died on Tuesday March 6, 2001, at Weeks Medical Center after a long illness. Mr. Dupont was born on the family farm on Pond Hill in Lunenburg, Vt, the son of Gerard and Doris (Couture) Dupont Sr. In his youth he worked in the woods with his father and his brother. Most of his life he has been employed as a mechanic. He worked for companies including Thompson Manufacturing, Washburn Lumber Co., Timberland Machines, White Mountain Mack, Currier Chevrolet and Central Paving. From 1978 to 2000 he owned and operated Dupont’s Auto Clinic in Lancaster. The love of his life was pulling ponies. He and his family were known throughout the pulling circuit as Dupont and Sons Pulling Ponies. Memberships include the New England Draft Horse Pulling Association and Eastern Draft Horse Pulling Association. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and westerns. Family members include his wife of 38 years, Joyce L. (Reed) Dupont of Lancaster; two sons, Emil A. Dupont Jr. of Lancaster, Jeffrey A. Dupont of Whitefield; two daughters Rosalee E. Gooden of Whitefield, Emily B. Dupont of Waltham, Mass; his mother, Doris Dupont of Whitefield; two brothers, Lucien Dupont and Gerard Dupont Jr., both of Lunenburg, Vt.; one sister, Rita Dupont of Lunenburg; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and aunt Bea Sigouin, of Lunenburg; and a special niece, Betty Ann Stapleton of Clermont, Fla. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Dupont. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday at All Saints Church in Lancaster. The Rev. John Mazzei, pastor officiated.
